About Us

San Diego North County Bluegrass & Folk Club (NCBFC) offers a variety of activities, events and benefits for members:

First Tuesday Music Nights: free, open to members and the general public, offering live bluegrass and folk music beginning at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of every month. We meet at Round Table Pizza, on the corner of Ash & Washington Streets in Escondido. See the Home  page of this website for info on next month’s featured band.

Campouts: two campouts per year, usually held the first weekend in late April or Early May and late September or Early October. We set the dates, when we have the dates for the larger festivals so we don’t hold our annual campouts on the same dates as other popular festivals. Lots of jamming, casual music workshops, potluck dinner, and an evening concert or band scramble or jamming opportunity for campers and the public. A chance to relax, meet new folks, and practice your music skills or learn new ones in a casual setting. Visit our Home page for current info.

Concerts: NCBFC sometimes produces concerts of local or touring artists around San Diego County. We also help publicize concerts and festivals sponsored by other associations who support bluegrass and folk or acoustic music. The Home page will show upcoming concerts sponsored or promoted by NCBFC.

Acoustic Jams are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Round Table Pizza, Washington & Ash Streets, where we also hold our 1st Tuesday night live events. The jam starts at 6:30pm and lasts several hours.

Festivals: From 2003 thru 2021,  NCBFC co-created with SDBS the Summergrass Bluegrass Music Festival held every August in Vista CA.  As of August 2022, Summergrass is now sponsored by the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. See the Summergrass website for up to date information on the Festival. From 1999-2002, we also produced the Julian Bluegrass Festival.

Publications: Our club newsletter, The San Diego North County Bluegrass & Folk Broadcast, is published 12 times a year. Our entertaining and informative newsletter is emailed just prior to the next monthly meeting. Filled with news of local happenings, artists, album reviews and sources for supplies, etc, the “Broadcast” also includes a detailed multi-page listing of folk and bluegrass music events, festivals, appearances and other things to do in and around Southern California. This is emailed to members and selected supporters and media.
