Brombies to be feature band for November 3 2009 meeting

The Brombies are a Los Angeles, California band that was formed by Jo Ellen & George Doering  way back in the 1900's. All of the musicians have played music of various kinds all of their lives, but traditional bluegrass is their music of choice. With Bill Bryson (Desert Rose Band, Laurel Canyon Ramblers, Bluegrass, Etc.) on bass & vocals, Patrick Sauber(BladeRunners, Chris Stuart, Mighty Wind cast & band) on banjo & vocals, Jo Ellen on guitar & vocals and George on mandolin & vocals you have a magic combination for exciting, traditional bluegrass. The band places a lot of emphasis on their vocals & harmonies and presenting their original bluegrass songs along with the traditional music of "the Masters". They all feel that music can be a major contribution of positive energy in our world and it's gotta be fun or "forget about it!"
As individuals, each band member has a long list of credits and as a band they are rapidly becoming a sought after traditional bluegrass band. Although The Brombies might be considered a new band (5 years) by bluegrass standards, they  have all been performing as successful musicians for too long to even mention.
This year The Brombies can add the Huck Finn Jubilee to their list of festivals; which includes: CBA's Grass Valley, Summergrass (2 years in a row) Julian Bluegrass Festival (2 years), Blythe, Valley Center, Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest and Festival. George and Jo Ellen were one of the winners in the Bluegrass category for the Chris Austin Songwriters Contest at "Merlefest" in Wilkesboro, NC., where Patrick was also performing with his Dad, Tom Sauber in several events including one with Doc Watson. Bill regularly performs with Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen and Bluegrass, Etc. now adding The Desert Rose Band re-union to his long list. The Brombies perform often around Southern and Northern California in many venues, Concerts in The Park, all the local Bluegrass Clubs, church picnics, church services and private parties. They've been honored to perform in the IBMA Songwriters Showcase for 2005. They've also taken part in the IBMA Afterhours Showcases in Nashville for the past 2 years and again were a part of that event this Autumn.
